Two years of lessons: a poem

I may never know why you had to leave,

but I know why you came:

to teach me the depth of

LOVE

that a heart can feel,

to help me find the

STRENGTH

of spirit

I didn’t know I had,

to show me just how bright

JOY

makes all the colors,

to nurture

EMPATHY

for all beings,

to impart

WISDOM

where once there was naivete,

to encourage

PATIENCE

and

THOUGHTFULNESS,

to push me to be

OPEN

and

HONEST,

and to give understanding that

grief

comes

only

following

GREAT LOVE.

I may never know why you had to leave.

But you came to show me who I really am

and what I really believe.

And I promise that even though you couldn’t stay here,

YOUR

LEGACY

WILL

NEVER

END.

I miss you my son, my love, my light. And I kiss you always.

Mommy

  1. Absolutely beautiful and only a reflection of the amazingly beautiful lady that wrote it. You have a talent for this my friend.
